Design Engineer Participated in both current product management and new product development. Primarily involved with new product projects from early conceptual development completely through post-launch issues. Designed stamped and formed structural steel components and weldments including entire loader/frame assemblies. Heavily used hand calculations and finite element analysis for component and system stress evaluation with an emphasized focus on weld fatigue life. Developed kinematic models to simulate and optimize hydraulic and mechanical mechanisms, exporting force-balance, speed, acceleration, and motion & force curves over a range of input variables. Designed hydraulic tubing, hoses, cylinder size & location based on fluid flow, hydraulic pressure, and force requirements. Proficiently used ProE piping module, creating complex 3D pipeline routings to minimize pressure drop and work within a limited space envelope. Designed ductile & grey iron castings, cast rubber, and rotational & injection molded plastic parts. Managed design validation through DFMEA driven test profiles at the component, subsystem, and vehicle level. Coordinated with suppliers and experimental department to ensure part availability for scheduled pre-launch manufacturing builds and testing validation within a limited testing window. Worked with manufacturing engineering, demonstrating new design intent for pre-launch manufacturing builds. Intimately involved with suppliers to communicate correct design intent, early build issues, and part availability with respect to scheduled launch dates. Used ProE cad system for part modeling and drawing creation.

Design Engineer Designed and built a rapid prototyping machine, capable of making biocompatible scaffold stints for cartilage tissue repair. Became knowledgeable with linear motion components including servo/stepper motors, controllers, amplifiers, ball screws, and linear rails. Managed time and resources to keep project on schedule and within budget.

Tooling Engineer Designed robot grippers for increased efficiency and reduced dropped parts. Designed and implemented part manipulators, brake and punch press safety devices, and brake press back gauges. Successfully multi-tasked projects to ensure their integration caused minimal/zero production downtime.

Manufacturing Engineer Installed first pass quality checks that minimized product defects. Coordinated lean manufacturing teams, implemented lean manufacturing techniques, and redesigned process flow to help meet production goals.
